TOPIC: Modulating to A - Amazing Grace

Modulating to A - Amazing Grace 14 years 2 months ago #2646

Seems like my group yesterday tasked with modulating from G to A for Amazing Grace pretty much had a meltdown and exhibited a joint panic attack.

For the backup it should be pretty easy at least on the banjo by shifting up 2 frets and playing as normal.

For the lead I was attempting to play a roll out of the modulated chords (moved up a full step). Not always successful but the correct notes are theoretcially their and most are the 1-3-5 of the mamajor chord

Any other ideas???

I learned today that the "lead" could've used a capo to play their lead...everyone else should have "modulated".....what a relief!!! I can do the chords....but was panicking at the thought of having to learn new leads for everything....although this IS recommended....maybe in my next life????? :P

Actually .. you were advised that a guitar who would not play the rhythm in the first key could have then play capoed to the modulated key.
