Various - 12 and 8 Bar Blues 5 years 7 months ago #9588

We began with playing 12 bar and 8 bar blues rhythm in the key of A followed by taking turns playing riff #1 while the others played rhythm along with a backer track. We practiced this with both 80 and 120 bpm tempo. The riffs and backer tracks may be found in the class materials

We then played "Key To The Highway" in the key of A and "Sweet Home Chicago" in the key of E which is played with a quick 4 chord in the second measure of 12 bar blues with a 1, 4, 5 chord progression. These too are included in the class materials.

We also practiced playing root notes and hitting the 1, 4, and 5 notes of a riff to stand out from the other notes being played (or not being played) in the riff. It was also discussed and demonstrated to "chop" the strumming when playing rhythm and we are to continue to practice this.
