We practiced the importance of mixing up the beats per measure when playing blues with the 5 note pentatonic scale. Playing a 5 note pentatonic scale or adding a flatted 5 also called the blue note making it a 6 note scale requires rhythm changes within the measures to get a blues or jazz sound.
