TOPIC: Relative Minors

Relative Minors 8 years 9 months ago #8343

In the last blues class we found that the relative minor scale uses the same notes as the major scale from which is derived. For example, Em is the relative minor of the G scale, so the Em scale uses the same notes as the G scale, except it starts with the Em. Also, we discussed that the G major scale cannot use the 7th note as a chord. It must be flattened. So, since the 7 of the G major is also the 2 of the relative minor (Em), you know that you must flatten the 2 of the Em.

We listened to an acoustic version (with banjo) of Led Zeppelin's Black Dog where Robert Plant was singing with Alison Krause.

Also heard an acoustic version of Moody Blues - Knights in White Satin --very cool.
