Blues Class 03 04 15:

Practiced Key to the Highway.
Said take our scale structure

Find your target 1 5 4

Find next target note up the the neck.

Minor scale:
Basics everybody needs to know: Which is your 4th string, and which is your 1st, and how to play a scale up and down the neck.
We will work on Key to the Highway until we get it down and then start playing it as a group.
A singer sings the melody line. Guitar player not necessarily play the melody line.
Instrument players use scale structure to build rifts and bring them together.
We are playing a flated 3, 2, and 1. Is that a pentatonic scale?
Going from a 1 to 5. Target note A. What is target note for 5? Target note for 4?
Ex: Mandolin tuned to 5ths. Start on 4th string, 2nd fret.
Blues is a 1 4 5 progression. Start w your target note. Then find the next target note so that you can build a riff on it.

Start w a comfort zone on the instrument. There are multiple ways to play, but start with your comfort zone.

Homework: For this song: Lets start working the melody line. Then work chord progression, and work 1 4 5 target notes for now. And work Rift # 4.

Bottom line: What are the goals. We are going to work one song until we get it down.

*Clapton (and others) builds leads off of scale structures.
