Minor Swing 1 4 5 progression – difference Dominant (7) to Major 7 chords

We played Minor Swing which is a 1 4 5 progression: Dm – Gm – A7 and talked about playing it as an Arpeggio (playing every note of a chord). Minor Swing is a Gypsy swing.

1 4 5 progressions of Major keys are all Major Chords
1 4 5 progressions of Minor keys are: 1 minor, 4 minor in Minor Swing, 5 is a dominant 7 chord

A dominant 7 chord is referred to as 7 (A7) and has a bluesy tone – uses a b7 note = 1, 3 ,5 and b7
A major 7 chord is referred to as a maj7 and has a jazzy tone – uses 7 note = 1, 3, 5 and 7

Major chords triads: 1, 3, 5
Minor chords triads: 1, b3, 5

Homework: review all songs.
