The 7th chords were discussed. The 7th chord is a 4 note chord consisting of the 1,3,5 & flatted 7th notes. In the I,IV,V progression the V chord is often played as a 7th chord to get that blues sound.

We also discussed the 8 bar blues and how like the 12 bar blues the chord progressions can vary. We discussed how 'Key to the Highway' varies from the lesson practice variation.

Class members were reminded to start slow and stay slow for playing together as a group.

We eagerly await Fretmentor to release 8 bar base and rhythm tracks to play along with, but in the meantime remember 'Key to the Highway' is in a midi version soundtrack to accompany practice playing.

So I noticed that when I play Key to the Highway, I play ALL the chords (I, IV, and V) as seventh chords, and it seems to sound pretty good. Is that true of all blues in general? Or am I doing something wrong? My general thought is that if it sounds good, go with it.
