Fretmentor's Blues Class - Class 4 10 years 1 month ago #7554

Hello Blues Class Members:

Last night the following was covered:

1. A comparison was made between the Major Scale, the Minor Scale and a brief discussion of the minor pentatonic scale

2. Timing exercises were covered (See the post for Class 3 to see what file was reviewed for 8th and swing 8ths)

3. Target notes were discussed in relation to a I, IV, V progression.

4. Arpeggios were introduced in relation to the song Minor Swing

5. The songs Matchbox, Minor Swing and You Can Shaake It, You Can Break It were briefly discussed.

6. 12 Bar Blues and the I, IV, V progression were reviewed.

Here are some questions to address with your class below:

1. What is 12 Bar Blues and how do you incorporate target notes into your progression?

2. What is an arpeggio and how does it relate to a chord?

3. What is the difference and how would you count 8ths versus Swing 8ths.

4. Explain the difference and similarities between the Major and Minor Scales. How does the minor pentatonic relate to the minor scale.

TIP: Practicing should include using the recorded Drum and Bass tracks. Loop those tracks to play 12 bar blues in a different Key each day

See you all next week. Have fun, be patient and practice.
