TOPIC: More songs to do in class

More songs to do in class 15 years 1 month ago #836

Dave once asked if we had any more songs we wanted to add to the class repertoire. I've got a few thousand that I'd love to learn how to play but here's a half dozen to start with.

Rocky Top
Old and in the Way
Pig in a Pen
Black Jack Davy
Girl from the North Country (Country Gentlemen version)

Chicken Pie (Lousiana Honeydrippers version)

Rocky Top and Roll in My Sweet Baby's Arms would be my picks!

I think the songs we play together need to be easy to learn so that everyone is onboard.

Another vote for Rocky top and Sweet Baby's arms.

What about Foggy Mountain Breakdown.

Foggy Mountain is good too! At least it's something we all know. I hear it every night as my husband practices it constantly. I can even do some of the chords already!!!

The only one of these songs I've heard of is Girl from the NOrth Country....which I like. I've also heard of Roll in my Sweet Baby's Arms, and I'm sure I've heard Foggy Mountain Breakdown, but maybe these are more for banjo and mandolin???? But what do I know.

Has anybody heard the song the Bramble and the Rose? I heard it sang on the radio a while back, but I don't know who was singing or anything else about the song. I think it's a really good song. If anybody knows about it, please post the info.
