THE TEACHER IN ME... 14 years 3 months ago #2463

Although retired I still get the same "happy sensations" when I see students improving ... tonight was no exception. It is so COOL to see my "classmates" achieve a new level. Lawrence besides sounding so much better also has a new confidence about him that can't be missed. Paul can play with anybody and can take the lead even in impromptu groups. Mutzy plays back up and WANTS to take the lead....and these are just a few of the improvements I've seen. There's Dave and Jim who also took the lead tonight... I really LOVE this part of the class. Watching people improve on a weekly basis is just great.....Gotta love it! :)

The best part of class Wednesday night was getting to slap Henry's bass around for Arkansas Traveler. It was great fun, despite the fact that I'd never played one before...I may be tempted to get one now, you've all corrupted me.

It is a great experience watching everyone improve. To be a part of that whole dynamic is a privilege. What we all share in those Wednesday night classes is a wonderful thing. I look forward to class every week as I'm sure we all do. I certainly wouldn't be where I am if not for all of you. Hats off to all who hang in there through the nerve racking performances and are brave enough to come back and do it again!

Wednesday nights are actually very addicting. The anxiety of playing for an audience is much reduced and is actually fun. I do need to practice more of the tunes, in fact, my practice lately has been scant.
