TOPIC: Timing Issues

I have been having a continuing problem with keeping time both when practicing and in class. I do okay when playing rhythm, but get mixed up when playing the solo parts and then I have difficulty getting back to playing the rhythm. I think I'm getting a little better at this the more I practice, but I was wondering if anyone has some advice on exercises I could do to improve. I've been using a metronome sometimes but get off-beat from that and sometimes have trouble recovering. Is this a terminal condition?

I hum the melody in my head.....try that....and no, it's not a terminal condition....just keep at it....you'll soon be pleasantly surprised!
