TOPIC: OUR FIRST "OFFICIAL" PERFORMANCE!

OUR FIRST "OFFICIAL" PERFORMANCE! 14 years 4 months ago #2296

This year we had an "entertainment sect" added to our Christmas dinner at my sister's house here in Baton Rouge. It was "announced" and a time was set....after dinner and before dessert (so that we would still have an audience ;) ) Daniel, our young nephew that some of you met this summer, with his banjo and Sam and I with our guitars "performed" "Grandma got ran over by a reindeer"...We played and sang! It was really fun! but we did just as Dave says to do.....left them wanting more...they asked for more but we held out....(hadn't practiced anyhing else :P )
Now my mom wants us to "perform" at her assisted living facility.....Don't think that's going to happen....how can we sing that to a bunch of "older people".... and since our repertoire is limited...maybe next year!

I visit my 90 year old Aunt at a nursing home in Boca every week. They have entertainment all the time. The people who perform have an hour's worth of material....so I think you need to compile more stuff before you plan your visit next year! On the other hand, I've never heard bluegrass at my Aunts place! :)

Tigerpaws - Congratulations on the Official Performance. What, no banjo-mandolin playing?

On a more serious note, what is the typical Christmas Dinner in Baton Rouge?

Signed - Forever hungry and will work for Chocolate/Coconut balls.

Fried Turkey, Ham, Sweet Potato Casserole, Green Bean Casserole, Cornbread Stuffing, Rolls and the cramberry jelly which gets forgotten in the refrigerator every year. Of course then there's the pecan pie, pralines, coconut balls, peanut butter balls and and if we can find one...a King Cake to get us started on Mardi Gras! Yep, all BAD for the health but GREAT for the taste buds! Sorry, Dave.....this isn't music oriented, but he did ASK! :P
