TOPIC: Help! Question about fiddle and chords...

When Dave is calling out chord names, what notes should I be playing? Chord names do not seem to correspond to note names.

I know nothing about the fiddle but I would imagine that if he says "C"...the root note would be a "C" so that would be the note you play???????? Oh Boy! I'm going to hear this in my lesson if I led you wrong....think I've opened up a can of worms....

I tried that, but it didn't sound quite right.....

HEY MOMPODELL, FOR CORDS YOU CAN CHECK OUT THE MANDOLIN FINGERBOARD IN THE MANDOLIN STUDIO SECTION. FIND THE ROOTS AND PLAY A IV OR V NOTE WITH IT. "DOUBLE STOPS" THERE ARE MANY BUT A FEW WILL GO A LONG WAY. SOME ARE JUST TWO OPEN STRINGS. OTHERS MAY BE NOTED WITH JUST ONE FINGER. CHECK OUT CASEY DRIESSEN ON YOU TUBE. HE HAS A WARM UP EXERCISE USING DRONES ON EACH STRING.

YES Casey is a bit scary...but good! Just need a pair of red shoes. You are doing great.. those double stops will just start falling in to place.. Most important is to keep things fun... and class is fun.
