In Week #3 we discussed the basic 12 bar blues pattern I diagrammed the pattern on the board and you can find it in your materials.
We went into greater detail of the musical alphabet and what a major scale is, in relation to 12 bar blues. I then illustrated how the major scale is used in chord progressions. I also summarized the minor and pentatonic scales
One common theme we addressed was the I, IV, V progression. In this particular class, I demonstrated the root notes for a I, IV, V progression using the particular tuning of each of the three instruments.
I also discussed the power chord and how it is used in I, IV, V progressions and in 12 bar blues.
What is a major scale and how do we use the scale to derive a major chord progression
You should complete all of your scale templates at this time. Next, print out the song "Matchbox Blues" and "Sweet Home Chicago" be prepared to work on this in Week 4
