TOPIC: Banjo Strings and Cryogenic Strings

Banjo Strings and Cryogenic Strings 15 years 2 months ago #438

When I first started playing banjo I seemed to like very heavy strings. As I play more it seems that the lighter string sets are better for me and let me focus more on the tone and are much more enjoyable to play. I seem to be settled on a JD Crowe set as a pretty good string gauge.

Have also purchased cryogenic strings from American Made Banjo in Boston and they are superb. They seem to stay in tune and sound great longer than any others I have used. Unfortunately you can only get them by going to www.americanmadebanjo.com/

They are the best. Highly recommended. Wouldn't use anything else.

I agree........I recently put a set on my older Alvarez "beginner" banjo and they really kicked it up a notch!
