My brother,SCone...and his wife live in Galax, VA. Last week they called me to remind that the Old Fiddlers Convention was going on. Galax calls itself the Bluegrass Capital of the world, and the Old Fiddlers Convention is supposedly the oldest bluegrass festival in the country (80 something years). It is an amateur contest...I think 5 days.....one day guitar...one day mandolin...1 day bango....1 day fiddle...the last day...is band competition.
The town swells from a population of 5,000 to 40,000 during the event. They have a radio station dedicate to nothing but Bluegrass.... Radio 98.1 Galax...you can listen to it on the internet.
I told scone that Kmando was in Galax recently...he said you should havd called him...they would have enjoyed hooking up with "ya'all" ....they live on 100 acres on top of a mountain...it is quite beautiful....next year maybe we should all go up there...heh heh
