Hey---now that you can expound on the effectiveness of these 2 tools, how about practicing the leads to Simple Gifts, or Amazing Grace so i can practice with another guitarist on the rhythm part?

Dave2311, I know what you're going through, I live with a banjo player who won't learn my songs, so I don't have anyone to practice with either!

Pinky, you should try "practicing" with Sam!!! Now there's an experience!!! (I'm sure he says the same of me ) But he doesn't play anything the way it's written....Drives me nuts....but it does make me want to learn faster!

I would practice with Sam, at least he will practice with you. Chris never leaves his office. I have learned to play the beginning of one of his songs, and he hasn't even bothered to see what I've done, or give me the rest of the chords!

Pinky didn't you notice that I wrote "practicing" in quotations???? Sam wil sit down with me once in a blue moon and start to play chords...but within 5 minutes he's off playing the music he hears in his head.....wish I heard the same.....my head is full of 3s and 2s and 0s and 4s ...nothing you can hum to ... one day maybe
