Timing

The timing of a particular piece of music is defied at the very beginning of  the musical composition.  This Time Signature appears at the beginning of the music and after the Clef sign.  The Time Signature contains two numbers similar to a fraction found in math.  The top number represents the number of "beats" of counts in the measure.  The bottom number represents what type of notes receives one beat.

 

Some of the most Common timing includes the following:

 

2/4  Time 

 

Also referred to as Cut Time, Represents Two Four Time.  2/4 Time means two beats per measure.
