So you now are settled in and have had your first class. Let's review what we covered besides the time we spent tuning the instruments.
We discussed the musical alphabet and using the fingerboard. You should complete the fingerboard chart by using the alphabet in the Basic Theory folder.
What is a spider? You will find a warm up exercise instructional CD. The exercise is to put all for fingers a fret at a time in order. Start with the index and play to the pinky finger. Try to stretch your hand and see if you can get all fingers on one string and four frets at a time.
Basic Strumming - Prior to the next class, strum the guitar in even strokes using your forearm and not your wrist. If while doing this, you place your ring finger on the 3rd fret of the 1st string, you will be playing a partial G chord. If you place your finger on the first fret of the second string, you will be strumming a C chord.
I also demonstrated how to tune and we learned two partial chords (G and C and one full chord D).
