I have the tried and true wind up metronome and also a couple of the elctronic ones. I prefer old faithfull. It's taken a while to learn how to use it to the best advantage but I am starting to get the hang of it and it really is helpful. Real nice forum. Thanks for allowing me to voice my thoughts and opinions. Dave.
I finally learned how to use the metronome, after many hours of practice with it. But I cannot count at the same time, that puzzels me, what is the trick to learn how to count it out at the same time? Is it practice, practice and more practice?

Yes. Lots more. Dave showed us last night. I set the beat speed (usually 55 to start) and tap my foot to that speed, then strum when my foot hits the floor. I find it easy to do a bass/strum/bass/strum for a chord in a measure. Bass note on beat 1, strum the chord on 2, bass on 3, strum again on 4, and so on. I guess there are other variations, as long as you play within the time constraint. (like brushing the high notes on a chord on the way back up, but it's easy to lose count with stylistic playing). Better to keep it simple to start for sure!
