If you are like me you like the 4th string to have a bit of "growl" to it. Too much treble and the sound is just too thin. According to Tom Nechville, A bridge in the 2 1/2 gram range, moderate head tension and a tailpiece that points slightly upward will help you get there. Just some things to try if you want to experiment.

That strong bass sound can be kind of ellusive? I found that easing off the head tension helped bring out a little more growl.
I will try some of the other suggestions. Thanks.
