"Shortening bread, shortening bread- mama's little baby loves shortening bread". Bread is good and much better than "Boil that cabbage down turn them hoe cakes round". Hoe cakes are nonleavened corn and flour pancakes that are cooked on a hot weeding hoe over an open fire. How deliteful - are you ordering one or two eggs with your hoe cakes?
