I found a new chord in a worship song, Cadd9. There's only 8 notes in the major scale, so where does the 9th come from? Unless this note is the 9th from the chromatic scale...

Without getting into modulus arithmetic, the ninth is the second, one octave up.

Play your major scale counting 1-2-3-4, but don't stop at 8...
